Jelly Roll Will Be The Newest Member Of The Grand Ole Opry
On Wednesday, December 10, Jelly Roll’s dream came true when he received the highest honor a country artist can get: an invitation to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry.
It all happened while Jelly Roll was a guest on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast. During the episode, he was surprised with a pre-recorded video from Craig Morgan, who invited him to join the Opry family.
“I’ll never forget meeting you at the Grand Ole Opry and how much it meant to me to hear you say my music helped you get through some really tough times,” Craig said. “That’s one thing country music does really well. And who would’ve ever dreamed back then that I’d be back at the Opry House today to say Jelly Roll, you’re officially invited to become a member of the Grand Ole Opry. It’s an honor to say welcome to the family, brother.”
By the end of it, Jelly Roll had taken off his headphones and burst into tears.
Later that day, Jelly Roll shared an emotional post on social media about receiving the invitation.
He posted a video that begins with a “How it ended” clip of him crying after hearing the news.
The video then cuts back to the moment right before it happened, with the words “what he surprised me with” written across the screen.
“I don’t even know what to say right now y’all,” Jelly Roll wrote in the post’s caption. “They invited me to be a member of the Opry. CRAIG MORGAN INVITED ME TO BE A MEMBER OF THE OPRY!!!! I’m honored beyond words and I can’t stop pinching myself. To everyone at the Opry, y’all are like family to me. To Craig Morgan, no matter how many times I say it i’ll never be able to tell you enough how much this has all meant to me. I love you Joe Rogan.”

His History With The Grand Ole Opry
Jelly Roll made his Grand Ole Opry debut on November 9, 2021.
Not long after, he was invited back by country star Craig Morgan to join him on stage for a special performance of Morgan’s classic, “Almost Home,” after sharing an emotional story during his debut about how much the song means to him.
He shared that “Almost Home” helped him through some of the hardest days of his life, long before he found success in music.

The Grammy-nominated artist also recalled a moment after facing legal trouble when he saw Morgan perform the song at the Opry. That performance, he said, inspired him to turn his life around and chase his dreams as an artist.
“Shortly after I got out of jail, I did, I sat right there in row seven and I cried like a baby and watched him sing,” Jelly Roll said. “I remember thinking, I wanna make people feel the way he makes me feel right now.”
Jelly Roll would go on to sing on the Opry stage multiple times after that.
