Brendan said the customer walked in, asked for a beer and the check, and then wished them well during the temporary shutdown before leaving. On his way out, he handed the signed receipt to Brendan and told him to split the tip between him and the other three employees working there that night, and he walked out the door.

At this point, Brendan looked down at the receipt and saw that the man left a $3000 tip. Brendan ran after the guy and caught up with him to let him know there must have been a mistake. The man said there was no mistake and he’ll see them again soon when they reopen.

“Unbelievable but symbolic of the kind of quality folks we have know at Nighttown all these years,” Brendan wrote on Facebook. “I could post his name but I won’t as I think he wouldn’t want that but all my waitstaff and myself and humbly grateful for this incredibly kind and grand gesture.”
