One family was enjoying one of the first beach trips of the summer when it turned into a very scary situation.

Florida-native Dan Watson took his wife and three young children to New Smyrna Beach last week and brought his drone along to take some photos of the family playing together.

The kids were playing nicely in the water and he thought it would be the perfect time to fly the drone and capture a really cool photo of them from above.

“Literally, as soon as I got it into the air, I started seeing a shadow moving through the water right towards them,” Watson told Fox35 Orlando.

He ran to his wife and told her to get the kids out of the water. She had no clue as to why, but she got the kids out of the knee-deep water they were playing in as fast as she could. Watson then showed her the photo of the kids running out of the water with the shark dangerously close to them.

When you think of a shark, you think of them in deep water, you don’t think of them extremely close, and you don’t think they’ll come in knee-deep water … it is terrifying to see them come that close to my kids,” Watson’s wife Sally told News 13.

This shark sighting comes one week before a surfer at the same beach was bit on the foot, suffering minor lacerations. See Fox 35 report on the scary incident below.
