About Graham Greene’s Career
Graham Greene was born in Ohsweken on the Six Nations Reserve in Ontario, Canada. Greene’s acting career started on the stage in theater productions in Canada and the United States. He first appeared on screen at the age of 27 in an episode of “The Great Detective,” a Canadian television series.
Four years later, he made his big screen debut in Running Brave. His first major role came in 1990 when he was cast as Kicking Bird in the Kevin Costner-directed film, Dances With Wolves.

Greene appeared alongside Costner in the movie that went on to earn 12 Academy Award nominations, including a nod to Greene for Best Supporting Actor. While Greene didn’t take home the trophy, the film was named Best Picture and earned six more Oscars.
In a 2017 interview, Greene recalled his work on Dances With Wolves. He told Reader’s Digest Canada that one of his favorite things about working on the film was his bond with his horse.
“He and I got on like a house on fire. On the last day I was shooting, this kid came up and told me it had been his—turns out he’d had to sell it. After filming, I went to the producers and said, ‘Make sure this kid gets his horse back. Take it out of my salary if you have to,” he shared.
Graham Greene appeared in numerous other films, including Maverick (1994), Die Hard with a Vengeance (1995), The Green Mile (1999), and The Twilight Saga: New Moon (2009).
Most recently, Greene appeared in two of Taylor Sheridan’s Paramount+ series: 1883 and Tulsa King.
