TMZ reported that on Tuesday (Dec 13), Allison ran into an LAPD station telling them that her husband had left their family home without his car, which was very unlike him. Not long after, police received a call about a medical emergency at a hotel in LA. There, tWitch was found dead by an apparent gunshot wound.
The LA County Medical Examiner-Coroner would later confirm that tWitch passed away from a “gunshot would to the head.”
In a statement to PEOPLE on Wednesday (Dec. 14), Allison said:
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us. Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans. To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt,” she continued. “I am certain there won’t be a day that goes by that we won’t honor his memory. We ask for privacy during this difficult time for myself and especially for our three children.”
She continued, “Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you.”

Another tribute that caught our eye was from Derek Hough. He and tWitch had know each other for many years and had even worked together. Fans loved their interactions on social media.
Hough shared a promo photo from their time on the show World Of Dance together and wrote, “My heart is aching for @allisonholker and their beautiful family during this time. My mind is clinging to memories of the dear friend we have all lost. When I think of twitch I think of Wisdom, Love, Light and Laughter. He brought joy to everyone he encountered and was an inspiration to all. It’s gonna take some time to fully process this. May you rest in peace my friend. We love you.”
