Fans Have Been Concerned About Dolly Parton’s Health

Representatives for Dolly Parton have reassured fans that the country music icon is doing just fine.

Concerns about Parton’s health began after the “Jolene” singer announced she would need to cancel a few upcoming appearances.

On September 17, Parton was scheduled to attend an event at Dollywood for the announcement of the park’s new attraction, Night Flight Expedition. But, she had to cancel at the last minute due to kidney stones that caused an infection.

Then, just a few weeks later, Parton informed fans that she would need to postpone her sold-out Las Vegas residency. The event was originally supposed to be held at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace for six nights in December.

It was also reported that she would not be attending the Governors’ Awards in November, even though she will be honored with the Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award during the ceremony.

Worries about Parton’s well-being grew even more when her sister, Freida, shared an emotional message on social media.

On Tuesday, October 7, Parton’s little sister took to Facebook, asking everyone to send prayers for the singer. She shared that she had “been up all night” praying herself.

“Last night, I was up all night praying for my sister, Dolly,” Freida wrote. “Many of you know she hasn’t been feeling her best lately. I truly believe in the power of prayer, and I have been lead to ask all of the world that loves her to be prayer warriors and pray with me.”

A message like this coming from someone close to Parton left fans even more unsure about what was really happening.

Dolly Parton Shares Video Message Clearing Up Any Rumors Regarding Her Health

After rumors about how serious Parton’s health issues were began to spread online, her manager, Olly Rowland, confirmed to the Las Vegas Review-Journal that she was doing fine.

“It’s just the kidney stones, and the procedure she needs to resolve those,” he told the outlet. “It looks like her sister posted, and it got quite a bit blown out of proportion, weirdly.”

Shortly after, Dolly herself posted a video message on social media. In it, she addressed her fans and cleared up the confusion about her health.

“Well, today’s October the 8th, and obviously I’m here. … Do I look sick to you?” Parton joked, saying she is currently filming a commcerial for the Grand Ole Opry.

She continued, “I wanted to put everybody’s mind at ease, those that seem to be real concerned, which I appreciate – and I appreciate your prayers, ’cause I’m a person of faith, I can always use the prayers for anything and everything – but I want you to know that I’m okay!”

She explained that after her husband, Carl Dean, passed away in March, she hadn’t been taking care of herself as well as she should. This led to health issues, but she clarified it was “nothing major.”

Still, she needed to cancel a few things so she could be close to home and near her doctors for a “few treatments here and there.”

“I’m not dying!,” she added. “There’s just a lot of rumors flying around. But I figured if you heard it from me, you’d know that I was okay. I ain’t done yet…I don’t think God is through with me, and I ain’t done working’.”

She didn’t go into further detail about what treatments she needed done; however, it’s just great to know that Dolly is doing well!
