Dolly Parton’s Nephew, Bryan, Has Been Fired As Head Of Security
Dolly Parton’s nephew, Bryan Seaver, has reportedly been fired as the country music icon’s longtime head of security. The news comes just weeks after Dolly’s death.
According to TMZ, Bryan, who served as Dolly’s head of security for more than two decades, received a termination notice dated Wednesday (September 16). The letter allegedly notified Bryan and his company that they were dismissed from providing security at his aunt’s properties, with the termination taking effect immediately.
Bryan was the family member chosen to publicly announce Dolly’s tragic death on August 25. He had been selected by Dolly years earlier to deliver the news when the time came.
Per the termination notice, Dolly’s properties and professional business interests are controlled by the DP Dean Trust, named after her late husband, Carl Dean. The document also clarified that while Bryan’s security duties were terminated, his personal interest in the trust remained intact.
TMZ reports that new security guards have already been assigned to Dolly’s two Nashville homes, museum and warehouse.
Bryan and his team told the outlet that they “remain unshakably resolved” to carry out Dolly’s final directive to protect her family. The statement continued, saying that they “refuse to be intimidated” by what they believe are actions taken in “bad faith” and for financial gain.
Dolly was one of 12 siblings and was part of a large extended family that included more than a dozen nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces and great-nephews.
Despite her extraordinary fame and decades spent in the spotlight, family remained at the center of Dolly’s life, with many of her relatives staying close to her throughout the years.
One of Dolly’s most personal philanthropic efforts was inspired by her father, Robert Lee Parton, who never learned to read or write. She often spoke about how intelligent and hardworking he was, but believed his inability to read limited some of the opportunities available to him.
In 1995, she launched Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library as a tribute to her father, initially providing free books to children in her home county of Sevier County, Tennessee. Her idea was to help children develop a love of reading from an early age and give them an opportunity her father never had.
As of June 2026, more than 325 million books have been gifted through Dolly’s childhood literacy program.
