Dollywood Issues Emotional Statement Following Dolly Parton’s Death

Country music icon Dolly Parton has died at the age of 80.
Her family shared the heartbreaking news Tuesday (August 25), through her nephew, Bryan Seaver. A press release from Dolly’s team later confirmed that she had passed away “peacefully” earlier that day.
In a video message posted to Dolly’s official social media accounts, Bryan shared the following statement:
“I am representing the Parton and Owens family today announcing the passing of my aunt, Dolly Rebecca Parton Dean. Sister, sis, Aunt Granny to one generation and Gigi to the next.”
Bryan revealed that Dolly had asked him “years ago” to make an announcement like this should the time ever come. He had also served as her head of security for more than two decades, making him a trusted member of her inner circle.

Dolly’s beloved theme park, Dollywood, is located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. Nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains, the park combines thrilling rides and attractions with live music and entertainment.
The park officially became Dollywood in 1986 after Dolly partnered with the Herschend family, who owned the property. Since then, it has grown into one of Tennessee’s most popular tourist destinations and has become an important part of Dolly’s remarkable legacy.
Dollywood held a special place in Dolly’s heart. It represented her deep connection to the East Tennessee community where she was raised and the Appalachian culture that helped shape her life and career.
The country music legend often spoken about Dollywood as a place that was deeply personal to her, rather than simply a business venture.
Shortly after news broke of Dolly’s death, Dollywood issued a statement in honor of their “Dreamer-in-Chief.”
“Everyone at Dollywood shares the sorrow of countless people around the world touched by Dolly’s warmth, wisdom and generous spirit,” the theme park wrote.
Eugene Naughton, Dollywood Parks & Resorts President, shared that helping Dolly bring her dream to life was the “greatest privilege” of his life.
“Dolly’s enduring legacy extends beyond her music and generosity to her remarkable work ethic—an inspiration to people everywhere. In her spirit, Dollywood will be open Wednesday as Dolly wanted, always reminding everyone with her signature sparkle — “the show must go on.” Together, we honor her by carrying forward her message of love, perseverance, and hope.”
