Drake And Alex White Are In Mourning After Losing Their Baby Girl
Country singer Drake White and his wife, Alex, are grieving the loss of their beautiful baby girl, Della Elizabeth.
Drake and Alex announced their pregnancy in May. They shared the news alongside some sweet photos taken with their son, Hawk.
“Hawk’s big brother duties are about to begin! We’re excited to welcome a baby girl to our family this November,” Drake and Alex said.
When they announced their pregnancy, the Whites told PEOPLE they planned to name their daughter after Alex’s grandmothers.
Alex was 29 weeks into her pregnancy when she gave birth to her and Drake’s baby girl, Della Elizabeth White, at 8:52 AM on August 31. Sadly, Della “peacefully went to be with Jesus at 9:12 AM” the same day.
Drake and Alex took time away to grieve before sharing the news of their daughter’s passing a week later, on Sunday, September 7. They said:
“On Sunday, August 31st our precious daughter, Della Elizabeth White, went peacefully to be with Jesus. We are so thankful for the holy moments God gave us with her. The Lord has been so near and close to us during this difficult time. He has held us up and sustained us through it all. We are heartbroken and soul tired, but we know we will get through this difficult time with the strength, peace, and joy that only our Heavenly Father can provide. May Della be held in the arms of Jesus until we see her again someday.”
Drake and Alex also shared words from Psalm 34:18 and Psalm 31:10, 14-15.
Country Artists And Fans Send Their Condolences To Drake And Alex
The country music community voiced its support for Drake and Alex as they grieve the loss of their baby girl. Many of Drake’s fellow artists and fans expressed their condolences and shared their prayers for him in Alex.
Lauren Alaina said, “My [heart] aches for you. Sending so much love and prayer your way.”
“I am so sorry. Praying for you 3…Jesus is near the broken hearted! Cover them Jesus,” wrote RaeLynn.
Terri Clark said, “I am so so very incredibly sorry to hear this. Heartbroken for you both. Sending you both love. No one should ever have to go through the loss of a child.”
“I am so sorry. I love you and I’m praying for you all. No one should ever go through this kind of pain. I know your sweet girl will always be in your heart and watching over you,” wrote Jessie James Decker.
Little Big Town’s Karen Fairchild said, “So very sorry. My heart is breaking for you both. Sending you so much love.”
“Drake I am so sorry. Sending you love,” wrote Travis Denning.
