Eddie Montgomery Pays Tribute To Troy Gentry On Anniversary Of His Death
on Sep 09, 2021
September 8, 2017 was a devastating day in the country music community. That day, Troy Gentry of Montgomery Gentry was killed in a helicopter crash in New Jersey.
Troy’s bandmate, Eddie Montgomery, was understandably devastated about Troy’s death. In his first public statement after Troy’s death, Eddie said, “I want to thank everyone for their support and prayers. Our world was turned upside down in an instant, and nothing could have prepared us for this.”
Montgomery Gentry had recorded a batch of new music prior to Troy’s death. Fans got the chance to hear those final songs of his when the duo released a new album, Here’s to You, five months after Troy passed away.
The album contained the song “Better Me,” which reached the 40th spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.
September 8, 2021 was the four-year anniversary of Troy’s death. It was a day that was surely hard for Eddie to get through, knowing he had gone through yet another year without his best friend by his side.
Eddie remembered Troy in a touching tribute post he made on Montgomery Gentry’s official social media pages. The tribute included a powerful photo of Eddie and Troy’s silhouettes.
The message Eddie wrote in remembrance of Troy was short and sweet, but it said a lot. “My brother forever,” he said. “Miss you T-Roy!”
