Ella Langley Reigns At #1 On Billboard’s All-Genre Hot 100 Chart

The world is clearly choosing Ella Langley, as her song, “Choosin’ Texas,” just hit #1 on the Hot 100!

Billboard’s Hot 100 chart features the top 100 songs in a given week based on streams and sales. The songs can be from any genre, although pop songs typically take the top spots.

Country songs have ranked at #1 before, but not often. It’s even more rare for a female country star to earn a #1 hit on the Hot 100.

A few female country artists have achieved the impressive feat. It’s a pretty exclusive list, including:

Now, Langley can add her name to that list.

This week, Langley’s “Choosin’ Texas” (which already reached #1 on the Hot Country Songs chart) claimed the #1 spot on the Hot 100. As Billboard detailed, “Choosin’ Texas” is the first song from a solo female performer primarily known as a country artist to reach #1 on the chart in this decade.

Billboard dropped the news on Monday (February 9) that “Choosin’ Texas” secured the #1 spot on the Hot 100.

Langley also accomplished a feat no other female artist has achieved before, as Billboard mentioned:

“Notably, the song is the first by a woman to triple up at No. 1 on the Hot 100, Hot Country Songs, and Country Airplay charts. It spends an 11th week atop the multimetric Hot Country Songs chart and its first frame atop the radio-based Country Airplay ranking.”

“Choosin’ Texas” is only the fourth song overall to accomplish such a feat. The others were Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” Post Malone and Morgan Wallen’s “I Had Some Help,” and Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night.”

It didn’t take long for Langley to react to the history-making news. Writing on Instagram, she said:

“We did it!! Choosin’ Texas is the #1 song on the @billboard #Hot100…I can’t thank y’all enough for what you’ve done with this song, it blows my mind every single day. Here’s to women & country music.”

“Choosin’ Texas” Is The Lead Single From Ella’s Sophomore Album, Dandelion

Langley co-wrote “Choosin’ Texas” with Miranda Lambert, Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor. The song is the lead single from her second studio album, Dandelion, which Langley co-produced with Lambert and Ben West.

The album, set for release on April 10, will include 18 songs. Langley will also embark on an accompanying tour this year.

Dandelions are masters of survival, surviving in even the harshest of environments,” Langley said about the inspiration behind the album. “Often dismissed as a common weed, this unassuming plant carries a deeper symbolism of hope, healing, and resilience.
