“I am so proud to be here tonight to honor my country music sister, Ella Langley,” said Lainey Wilson as she introduced the Powerhouse Award.

The Powerhouse Award is given out each year to recognize an artist whose music was dominant in streaming, sales, and radio.

Continuing, Lainey said, “Every now and then, you meet somebody who just has that thing that you cannot teach.”

Noting that she first met Ella in Tin Roof in Nashville, Tennessee, and was drawn to the “fire” within her.

“She’s the kind of chick that don’t just walk into a room, she kicks the door in,” Lainey said. “She comes from the kind of place where you learn early that you gotta work hard, tell the truth, and stands 10 toes down in who you are and the stories you were born to tell.”

Lainey went on to share that she feels Ella embodies the Powerhouse Award, noting, “[Ella] has the backbone, the work ethic, and the staying power to keep showing up, keep growing, and keep proving exactly who you are.”

Despite all of Ella’s accomplishments — with having her second album, Dandelion, at the top of the Billboard 200; and having the No. 1 song, “Choosin’ Texas,” on the Billboard Hot 100 and the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts simultaneously — Lainey said, “Ella is still Ella. She is still hungry, she is still curious, and still wantin’ to know more, do more, and be more.”

Lainey concluded by saying, “Ella, I love you, and I believe in you, and I will always be cheering you on.”

Then, Ella took the stage, performing an acoustic rendition of “Choosin’ Texas.”

Following her performance, Ella accepted the Powerhouse Award, “wingin'” her speech.

There, she said, “Powerhouse Award. To me, powerhouse is strength, resilience, it’s comin’ back when you don’t necessarily want to, but you feel like, ‘I’m going to. I’m gonna fight for this.'”

Concluding her remarks, she said, “This is something I’ve wanted to do my whole entire life. There hasn’t been another dream for me, there wasn’t a day that I wanted to be anything else, so to get this award, all those years of kickin’ down doors — to me, ‘powerhouse’ — didn’t go to waste.”
