Erika Kirk Has Message For Jimmy Kimmel Following Controversial Remarks
on Nov 04, 2025

Nearly two months after conservative activist Charlie Kirk was assassinated, his widow, Erika, sat down for her first interview.
In an interview with Fox News’ Jesse Watters that is set to air in-full on Wednesday (November 4), Erika Kirk addressed the ill-timed remarks late night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel made about Tyler Robinson. Robinson, a 22-year-old college student suspected of killing Charlie Kirk, is currently behind bars in Utah, near where the shooting took place.

A week after Kirk’s death, Kimmel said in his opening monologue, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them, and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
Kimmel doubled down on his comments a few days later when he criticized President Donald Trump’s political allies, accusing them of politicizing the assassination to blame the left.
The fallout from Kimmel’s remarks was immense, eventually leading to the removal of his show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, from numerous ABC affiliates across the country.
Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension was short-lived.
Kimmel returned to the air on September 23 and addressed the suspension, clarifying his comments about Charlie Kirk. He told viewers:
“It was never my intention to make light of the murder of a young man. I don’t think there’s anything funny about it,” the host said through tears.
“It wasn’t my intention to blame any specific group for the actions what — it was obviously a deeply disturbed individual. That was really the opposite of the point I was trying to make, but I understand that to some that felt either ill-timed or unclear, or maybe both. And for those who think I did point a finger, I get why you’re upset. If the situation was reversed, there’s a good chance I’d have felt the same way.”
Jimmy also reflected on Erika Kirk’s powerful address during Charlie’s funeral, saying that her forgiveness of the assassin is “an example we should follow.”

“If you believe in the teachings of Jesus, as I do, there it was. That, that’s it. A selfless act of grace. Forgiveness from a grieving widow. It touched me deeply, and I hope it touches many. And if there’s anything we should take from this tragedy to carry forward, I hope it can be that,” Kimmel said.

Erika Kirk told Jesse Watters that she declined an invitation to appear on Jimmy Kimmel Live!
In a clip released ahead of the full interview, Jesse Watters asked Erika Kirk what she would say to Jimmy Kimmel if given the chance.
She told Watters that she would say the same thing to Kimmel that she said to Sinclair, the television network behind Kimmel’s show that reached out during the controversy.
“The same thing I told Sinclair. They asked, ‘Do you want Jimmy to give you an apology? Do you want to be on the show? How can we make it right?'” Erika recalled, saying that she responded through her team and told the company, “This is not our issue. Not our mess. If you want to say ‘I’m sorry’ to someone who’s grieving, go ahead. But if that’s not in your heart, don’t do it. I don’t want it. I don’t need it.”
