Willie Nelson Cancels Shows Due To Illness

Country music legend Willie Nelson abruptly canceled multiple shows last week, citing illness as the reason. The 91-year-old singer’s team released the following statement on social media to announce the cancellations:

We regret to inform you that Willie Nelson is not feeling well. And per doctor’s orders, has been advised to rest for the next four days. He is expected to make a quick recovery and join the Outlaw Music Festival tour next week.”

Willie’s team shared this statement just a few hours before he was supposed to appear onstage for the opening night of the Outlaw Music Festival Tour. His son, Lukas, took his place and performed some of his songs.

In the meantime, Lukas Nelson and the Family Band, along with a few guests, will perform a special set to include Willie’s classics and other songs,” the statement continued. “Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and Celisse will continue to perform as scheduled.”

A few days later, Willie’s rep released an update on the singer’s health. He remained optimistic that Willie would be able to perform this week.

Willie will be fine,” the rep said. “I live in Los Angeles and will fly next week to see the performances on the East Coast. I can’t wait.”

Willie Unable To Make Another Show, Fans Grow Concerned

His next show was scheduled for Wednesday (June 26) in Virginia Beach, Virginia. However, Willie has also canceled his appearance at that show.

The Texas native’s team released a statement on his social media pages, which read:

Willie Nelson will not be performing at tonight’s show in Virginia Beach. We expect Willie to return to the tour shortly. Bob Dylan, Robert Plant and Alison Krauss, [and] Celisse will perform as scheduled. In addition, Lukas Nelson and Family along with some special guests will play his own set which will include Willie’s classics and other songs.

After hearing that he had to cancel another show, fans expressed concerns about Willie’s health. Some of the  comments on the announcement were:

“These posts are stressing me out.”

“my heart keeps dropping at these omg”

“Please be ok man.”

“These posts are making me worried.”

“Please take care of yourself, dear Willie!!!”

“Sweating bullets rn, not even because I have tickets to see him on Saturday but I’m not ready to roll Willie up yet.”

Willie’s next show is scheduled for Friday (June 28) in Syracuse, New York. He’s in our continued prayers!
