Country Duo Maddie & Announce Split After 15 Years
Country duo Maddie & Tae burst on the scene in 2014 with the success of their song “Girl In A Country Song.”
They performed together for four years prior, making 2025 their 15th anniversary as a duo. During their career, they released three studio albums, five EPs, seven singles, 12 music videos, won a CMA Award for Music Video of the Year, and won a CMT Music Award for Duo/Group Video of the Year.
On Monday (December 8), Maddie & Tae announced that they would be splitting up, but not breaking up completely. In an accompanying interview with People, they said that they are “embarking on separate journeys. But still together.”
The two remain best friends and will still be seeing each other often, they just won’t be in a working relationship together anymore.
“Even though we’re not gonna go on this journey as Maddie & Tae together, we’re still walking and doing life together outside of it, Maddie said. “And I think I’m really excited to just be best friends and nurture our friendship and not have to worry as much about the work and still get to raise our babies together. None of that changes.”
Shortly after the announcement went public, Maddie & Tae thanked their fans as they “step into this new bittersweet chapter,” and assured fans that they will still be going on tour in 2026.
In the interview, they revealed the reason for the split. Tae wanted to take a break from performing to focus on her family, and Maddie, a mother too, completely understood. Maddie will pursue a solo career.
