Law Enforcement Reports The Shooter Is No Longer A Threat
In the morning of Wednesday, August 27, the Minneapolis Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at Annunciation Catholic School in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Annunciation Catholic School is affiliated with the Annunciation Church, which had a full school mass scheduled for 8:15 a.m. this morning.
Responding to the news, MN Gov. Tim Walz posted on X, formerly Twitter, writing, “I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.”

I’m praying for our kids and teachers whose first week of school was marred by this horrific act of violence.
As of 10:31 a.m. (EST), the City of Richfield Police Department, which is a suburb of Minneapolis, posted on Facebook, “Police are responding to an active shooter call. Officers are reporting 20 victims. A man dressed in all black and armed with a rifle was reported at the scene. EMS has requested a Mass Casualty Response and fire crews are bringing in additional resources.”
Since then, it has been reported that the assailant is no longer a threat.
President Donald Trump has been briefed on the situation, with Trump posting on Truth Social:

A news conference was held by Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and other officials at noon (EST).

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O’Hara reported that the gunman fired into the church from the outside, targeting students and other worshippers during a Wednesday morning mass just before 8:30 a.m.
“Two young children, ages 8 and 10, were killed where they sat in the pews,” O’Hara reported. “17 other people were injured, 14 of them being children. Two of those children are in critical condition.”
The gunman, whose name was not given but was identified as a male in his early 20s, took his own life.
