Brothers Andy, Chad and Dennijo Sitze grew up surrounded by music. They performed alongside their parents and grandparents in a multi-generational family band that held residences at Silver Dollar City and Dollywood.

Eventually, the brothers went on to form their own group, the Flat River Band. Through the years, the Flat River Band has earned multiple #1 hits on the bluegrass gospel charts. They’ve also had the opportunity to open for artists such as Ricky Skaggs, Rhonda Vincent, and Alison Krauss.

Many people were introduced to the Flat River Band’s music in the 2018 film The Least of These, A Christmas Story. The movie featured Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys, Deborah Allen, and Tayla Lynn, who is Loretta Lynn‘s granddaughter.

More recently, Flat River Band has been in the spotlight in the Americana and Country formats following the release of their new five-song EP, Sights and Sounds. They also recently signed exclusively with The Kinkead Entertainment Agency for worldwide booking representation. The group plans to share the music from Sights and Sounds on an expanded tour in 2023.

One of the songs featured on Sights and Sounds is “Ain’t a Woman Like a River.” Flat River Band just released the harmonious tune as their new single.

“Ain’t a Woman Like a River” was written by John Colgin and Flat River Band’s Chad Sitze. Chad explained how the song came to be:

I reached out to my co-writer, John Colgin, about some river songs for the EP Sights and Sounds and he called me back the next day with the first verse and the rest is history. It was written during that COVID era!”

“Ain’t a Woman Like a River” is a ballad that “describes the many contrasting facets of a woman while being delivered as only the Flat River Band can – in perfect harmony.” Some of the lyrics are:

Some days calm
like a gentle breeze
Some days raging
brings you to your knees
A restless spirit
you cannot tame
A woman and a river
are a lot the same.”

Chad Sitze performs lead vocals on “Ain’t a Woman Like a River.” Dennijo Sitze performs tenor vocals, electric guitar, and mandolin. Andy Sitze delivers baritone vocals and plays electric bass. Chuck Reyer is featured on drums, Matt Klevorn on steel guitar, and Chris Nole on piano.

“Ain’t a Woman Like a River” was recorded at Omni Recording Studios and was produced by Flat River Band along with William Gawley. Bryce Roberts served as the engineer, John McClure did the mastering, and Bill Tyler Designs created the artwork for the single.

When explaining why they decided to release “Ain’t a Woman Like a River” as their newest single, the members of Flat River Band said:

We have been playing this song out and have been getting a big response on our harmonies, so we decided to give country radio the option of spinning an acoustic version of ‘Ain’t a Woman Like a River.”

“Ain’t a Woman Like a River”is available to stream on all digital music platforms such as Spotify, Apple Music, and Pandora. Stream the song by clicking here.
