In Jacksonville, Texas, one citizen’s quick thinking stopped a suspect from fleeing the scene.

On Wednesday, the Jacksonville police approached a man who they believe was in a stolen vehicle. The confrontation quickly turned into an on-foot pursuit as the suspect attempted to evade police. Eventually, the man ended up dashing through a Chick-fil-A parking lot.

According to police, a Chick-fil-A customer witnessed the chase while waiting on his chicken sandwich. Thinking quickly, the customer used his truck’s door to stop the suspect, which was captured in a piece of security footage.

In the video, the customer’s actions cause the suspect to lose balance, and the officer is quickly able to take the man into custody. The helpful citizen even jumped out of his truck to make sure the officer did not need further assistance. Fortunately, another police officer was not far behind.

“The suspect was quickly apprehended after the ‘HANGRY’ (but helpful) citizen reminded the suspect as to why you should never run from the police,” JPD said in a statement obtained by KETK FOX 51.
