Jay Cutler Was Arrested In 2024

Jay Cutler, former NFL Quarterback for the Denver Broncos, Chicago Bears and Miami Dolphins, received his sentencing for his October 2024 arrest.

If you don’t know him as a football player, you might know him as the former husband of reality star Kristen Cavallari. They were married for nine years and share three children together.

Cutler appeared in court on Tuesday (August 26) in Williamson County, Tennessee, where he pleaded guilty for a DUI charge.

The former football player was arrested in Downtown Franklin, Tennessee on October 17, 2024 and “charged with DUI, possession of a handgun while under the influence, and implied consent and failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision.”

Following the arrest, WSMV reported that Cutler rear-ended a blue GMC in his white Dodge Ram. Franklin Police Department told the public that when they arrived on scene, their officers “noticed a strong odor of alcohol.”

“Cutler was also slurring his words and had blood shot eyes,” read the Franklin Police news release. “Cutler refused field sobriety tests and was taken to a local hospital where a blood sample was obtained through a blood search warrant.”

Upon searching his vehicle, police then found “two firearms in his vehicle, including a loaded pistol.”

Police documents also revealed that Cutler tried to flea the scene, and also offered the other driver $2,000 if he didn’t call the police.

After being booked, Cutler was released the same day on a $5,000 bond.

How Long Will Jay Cutler Serve?

Cutler’s guilty plea dropped the gun charges, but he will still have to serve some time for the DUI charge.

He will serve a total of four days in jail, pay a $350 fine, will be on unsupervised probation for one year, must attend a DUI class, and his Tennessee driver’s license has been revoked, though it wasn’t clear for how long.

Fans have reacted to the news of his sentencing, some being shocked it’s so short, and others being supportive on how this can help Cutler turn things around.

“I really hope this ends up being the best thing that ever happened to him. It was a wake up call for me and I’m so grateful I didn’t harm anyone.”

“Only 4 days in jail for this drunk? Unbelievable.”

“Reasonable.”

“Tough fall for Jay Cutler, four days in jail may be short but the probation and revoked license will sting long term.”

It’s not clear when he will serve his jail time.
