A Former Hair And Makeup Artist For Garth Brooks Filed A Lawsuit Against Him And Made Some Serious Allegations
On October 4, the public learned that a woman identified as “Jane Roe” had filed a lawsuit against Garth Brooks. The lawsuit contained some serious allegations about Brooks and his conduct.
The woman, who previously worked as a hair and makeup artist for Brooks and his wife, Trisha Yearwood, accused Brooks of rape and sexual assault.
“Brooks is desperate to prevent his millions of fans from learning about the horrific things he has said and done to a junior female employee who did nothing to deserve such treatment,” reads a portion of the lawsuit.
Brooks anonymously filed his own lawsuit in mid-September in an effort to stop Jane Roe’s lawsuit from going public. Country Rebel obtained a copy of that lawsuit, which explains Brooks’ motivation as being:
“…to obtain relief from Defendant’s ongoing attempted extortion, defamation, false light invasion of privacy, and intentional infliction of emotional distress through outrageous conduct including the publication and threatened wider publication of false allegations of sexual misconduct that would irreparably harm Plaintiff’s reputation, family, career and livelihood.”
Brooks also denied all of Jane Roe’s accusations, calling them “fabricated.” He accused Jane Roe of filing her lawsuit for financial gain.
How Garth Responded To The Allegations
A few hours after Jane Roe’s lawsuit went public, Brooks addressed her allegations. In a statement provided to Country Rebel, he said in part:
“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”
Brooks ended his statement by saying:
“I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”
Brooks took to the stage to perform in Las Vegas that same night. He shared a post on social media after the show, saying, “If there was ever a night that I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night! Thank you for my life!!!!! love, g.”
Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, eventually broke her silence on Monday (October 7) with a three-word post on social media. She shared a picture of her singing with Brooks in Vegas, captioning it, “Love One Another.”
Garth Brooks Returns To Inside Studio G To Address The Lawsuit, Tells Fans “This Thing Is On”
After a break, Brooks returned to his Inside Studio G series on Facebook on Monday (October 7). Brooks typically uses Inside Studio G to communicate directly with his fans about past and upcoming events and projects.
Brooks previously announced that the series, which he started in 2016, is ending sometime later this year.
During his recent session, Brooks briefly addressed the lawsuit, telling fans he couldn’t say much about the matter. “Let’s address the elephant in the room, shall we?” he said.
He noted how the lawsuit could take some time to play out, telling fans:
“This thing is on. It’s gonna happen. And people are telling me it could be up to two years, so my suggestion is, we all take a deep breath, we all just kind of settle in and let’s hold hands and take the trip together, okay?”
He added:
“Because it is something that you cannot talk about. That’s all we can say about it. So for those who joined us tonight to hear about that, I bid you a wonderful rest of your night because that’s the last [thing] we can say…”
Brooks didn’t say anything else about the lawsuit during the nearly 25-minute session. He went on to talk about his performances in Vegas and his recent work with Habitat for Humanity alongside his wife, Trisha Yearwood.
