Garth Brooks Accused Of Sexual Assault In Lawsuit Filed Against Him

On Thursday (October 4), news broke that a former hair and makeup stylist for Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood filed a lawsuit against Brooks, containing allegations of rape and sexual assault. The woman, listed as “Jane Roe” in court documents obtained by Variety and other outlets, made accusations dating back to 2019.

Brooks is desperate to prevent his millions of fans from learning about the horrific things he has said and done to a junior female employee who did nothing to deserve such treatment,” the lawsuit reads.

Brooks filed an anonymous lawsuit in mid-September in an effort to stop Jane Roe’s impending lawsuit. Country Rebel obtained a copy of this lawsuit. In it, Brooks (referred to as “John Doe”), denied all of Jane Roe’s accusations.

Additionally, Brooks accused Jane Roe of making her allegations for financial gain, claiming she said she would not pursue her lawsuit if she received a multi-million dollar payment from the singer.

Garth Brooks Releases Statement Addressing The Allegations

A few hours after the allegations against him went public, Garth Brooks issued a statement in response. In it, he maintained his innocence and accused Jane Roe of seeking “hush money.”

Read Brooks’ full statement below.

“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars. It has been like having a loaded gun waved in my face.”

“Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another.”

“We filed suit against this person nearly a month ago to speak out against extortion and defamation of character. We filed it anonymously for the sake of families on both sides.”

“I want to play music tonight. I want to continue our good deeds going forward. It breaks my heart these wonderful things are in question now. I trust the system, I do not fear the truth, and I am not the man they have painted me to be.”

Brooks Performed In Vegas After The Lawsuit Went Public And Shared A New Social Media Post After The Show

Brooks did go out and play music that night. He had a show scheduled in Las Vegas as part of his Garth Brooks/Plus ONE residency at Caesars Palace.

The singer announced in September that his multi-year residency is ending. He has shows scheduled in October and December, with his final set of concerts slated for February and March of 2025.

After taking to the stage in Vegas on Thursday night (October 3), Brooks shared his first social media post since the allegations and lawsuit surfaced. He posted a photo from his concert that evening, captioning it:

“If there was ever a night that I really needed this, TONIGHT was that night! Thank you for my life!!!!! love, g.”

As of press time, Brooks’ wife, Trisha Yearwood, has not publically addressed the accusations made against her husband.

This is a developing story.
