Gary Sinise Mourns “Pal” James Caan’s Death

The entertainment world is mourning the death of James Caan. The 82-year-old actor was known for his roles in films such as The Godfather, Brian’s Song, El Dorado, Misery, and Elf.

Caan died on July 6. His death was announced in a statement on his official Twitter:

It is with great sadness that we inform you of the passing of Jimmy on the evening of July 6,” the statement read. “The family appreciates the outpouring of love and heartfelt condolences and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.”

Many of Caan’s famous friends paid tribute to him after learning about his death. One person who penned a touching tribute to Caan was Forrest Gump and The Green Mile star Gary Sinise:

Very sad to hear the news that James Caan has died,” Sinise wrote on social media alongside a photo of him and Caan together. “Heartbroken for his family & his friends.”

Sinise explained how close he and Caan were. He also spoke about how Caan supported his work with veterans through his Gary Sinise Foundation:

Wonderful to know him & call him a pal,” Sinise wrote. “Jimmy was so supportive of Gary Sinise Foundation & my work w/ our veterans. He will be missed. Thank you my friend. Rest In Peace. God bless you.”
