Ashley Hoehn was fishing with her boyfriend at the Bosque River near Waco, Texas when he filmed something very “County Rebel” of her – Ashley biting the head off of a small shad fish and then baiting a hook with it.

“No one necessarily taught me to bait a hook like ‘that’ – just the silly side of me thought it was funny to bite the head of a shad to give some people a good laugh,” Ashley told Chron.com.

The video was filmed back in June 2017 and since then has gone viral. It was shared to the Facebook page Outdoors Blondie and got over 650 shares, 760 comments, and was viewed more than 174k times. Some people loved it, while others were not so fond of it.

“Never did I think a video of me being me would go so crazy,” she said. “Yes, I have received endless messages about how much people love my passion, outgoingness, and that women can be just as awesome as men in the outdoors, but it has really opened my eyes to how cruel this world is.”

The then 21-year-old said she received a few death threats in private messages from people who didn’t like what she did. Regardless, she said her intention was to bring laughter to people who watched the video. You can watch the video below.
