Country artist Warren Zeiders stepped up to sing the national anthem Saturday, December 2nd, in advance of the Big 12 Championship game between Texas and Oklahoma State University today. The national anthem is often a tall order for any artist to take on and is notably one of the most nerve-racking songs for an artist to sing. One slip and you will be lambasted via social media and in the news –sometimes forever.

Most Americans prefer the anthem be sung in a way that is true to the tempo and notes they know and love from Francis Scott-Key. However, many artists end up wanting to put their own unique spin and style of singing on it which is incredibly risky. Social media and keyboard warriors had strong reactions to Zeider’s performance.
