Every two weeks, 41-year-old dog owner Greg Lee from Williamsburg, Virginia says he has to fight with his 90 pound Rhodesian Ridgeback named Jax to trim his nails. However, after coming up with an idea to distract the dog, he’s not having to fight with him anymore.

Greg says Jax’s breed is built to be outside running so his nails grow quickly. However, it’s hard to trim them because Jax doesn’t like the sound of the trimmer and the way it feels. Plus, Jax is very strong so it’s hard to hold him down. However, he’s highly motivated by treats so Greg figured out a crafty way to use Cheese Whiz canned cheese to get his dog to let him trim his nails.

With the cheese on the scene, it’s like Jax is completely oblivious that he’s getting his nails trimmed. Greg has his daughter squirt a constant stream of cheese on top of Greg’s head to distract Jax while trimming his nails. It takes about 20 minutes to trim Jax and occasionally he’ll pull a paw away, but for the most part, he’s laser-focused on the cheese.

According to Unilad, Greg says it all started when “I was struggling with Jax and my oldest daughter was getting him a toy to soothe him and sarcastically said, ‘We should put Cheese Whiz on your head and let him lick it off.'”
