Hank Williams Jr.’s Daughter Holly Asks For Prayers After Loss Of Sister: “All We Need Is Prayers”

Katherine Williams-Dunning, the 27-year-old daughter of country legend Hank Williams Jr., died Saturday (June 13) in a single-vehicle accident west of Nashville. Williams-Dunning was behind the wheel of a 2007 Tahoe traveling south when she crossed the median and the vehicle rolled, coming to a stop on the shoulder in the northbound lane.

According to reports, Williams-Dunning and her husband Tyler were transported via helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where Williams-Dunning died. 29-year-old Tyler remains hospitalized with unspecified injuries.

New of the accident spread on Facebook following a post made by Katherine’s brother, Sam Williams, who wrote, “My sister and brother in law have been in a terrible accident. Please pray for them so hard! Katie Williams and Tyler Dunning.”

Katherine (also called Katie) and Sam are the children of Hank Williams Jr. and his third wife, Mary Jane Thomas. Hank Jr. has three other children from previous relationships, all of whom followed in their father and grandfather’s country music footsteps, including Hank Williams III, Holly Williams and Hilary Williams.

Holly Williams took to social media Sunday afternoon (June 14) to pay tribute to her late sister and to share what would become their last family photo together.

“I have no words,” wrote Holly. “On Friday morning I talked the family into taking this picture and had no idea it would be our last together with my precious little sister Katie. We all went to my great aunts funeral on Thursday whom we all loved dearly, and now are faced with another one.”

Holly then asked for prayer for her family and all of Katie’s family. She added that Katie’s husband, Tyler, is awake and responding, although the extent of his injuries is unknown. She concluded with a Bible verse that reads, “Be merciful to me, O LORD, for I am in distress; my eyes grow weak with sorrow, my soul and my body with grief. Psalm 31:9”

According to her Facebook page, Katherine Williams-Dunning lived in Springville, Tennessee, with her husband, whom she wed in October 2015, their 5-year-old son, Beau, and 2-year-old daughter, Audrey Jane.
