It’s Official…Kelly Clarkson’s Last Name Has Changed
on Mar 30, 2022
Kelly Clarkson has a new name.
Following her split from her ex-husband Brandon Blackstock, Kelly dropped her married last name and had her legal name restored to Kelly Clarkson. Then in February, Kelly put in a request to legally remove Clarkson from her name as well.
Kelly petitioned the court to change her legal last name from Clarkson to Brianne, which is her middle name. US Weekly referenced Kelly’s court documents, in which she said the name Kelly Brianne “more fully reflects” the person she is.
When this news first broke, fans wondered if this name change would apply to Kelly’s professional life as well. She cleared the air while speaking with PEOPLE (the TV Show!) earlier in March.
Kelly said the name Kelly Brianne is just the name she’ll use in her personal life. She will still go by Kelly Clarkson for professional reasons.
“I don’t think I can change Clarkson at this point. I’m 20 years in!” Kelly said.
