Jamey Johnson Is Hitting The Road On A Headlining Tour

This morning (May 28), Jamey Johnson announced The Last Honky Tonk Tour, which kicks off in exactly one week. The tour will make a total of 36 stops and wrap up with a two-night stint in Nashville, Tennessee, in October.

This marks Johnson’s 20th year touring, and he is celebrating it by doing what he does best. He shared:

“The tour will be a lot of fun. It’s a chance for us to hang out every night, where we get to walk onstage and show off what we’ve learned over the past 20 years.”

The tour is inspired by his recently recorded but not-yet-released rendition of “The Last Honky Tonk.” The song was initially released by the Wayne Mills Band and features the late Jason “Rowdy” Cope on guitar. Both Mills and Cope were friends of Johnson’s, and this tour is a way to honor their legacy.

Similarly, Johnson’s version of the track features Mills’ son Jack on guitar. He said:

“Jack really is something else! I thought, ‘Man, his dad would be proud. Let’s break that song out and get Jack to play guitar on it.’ I am proud to have him playing on it.”

Jamey Johnson To Perform Music From All Of His Albums

Last year, the “In Color” singer released Midnight Gasoline, which was his first solo album in 14 years. He revealed that the setlist for his upcoming shows will feature songs from his entire catalog, both old and new. He said:

“We will do some of the songs from ‘Midnight Gasoline’ from last year and all the years before. Whatever album you like, we will do some of those songs. It’s exciting to play the new songs. I like it when people tell me they have heard the new stuff and they like it.”
