Fenway Park Cancels Jason Aldean And Brooks & Dunn Concert With Only 1 Day’s Notice

Just one day before Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn were scheduled to perform at Boston’s Fenway Park, their concert was canceled.

The country singers’ Fenway Park concert was announced in January. The show was also slated to feature special guests Nate Smith, RaeLynn, and Dee Jay Silver.

Fans were incredibly excited to see Aldean and Brooks & Dunn perform during this one-of-a-kind show on May 30.

Unfortunately, ticketholders received some bad news on Thursday (May 29). The concert was suddenly canceled, and initially, little explanation was given.

The Shakira show scheduled for that evening (May 29) was also canceled, mere hours before the former Voice coach was supposed to be onstage.

Fenway Park released a statement announcing the cancellations, which read:

“Due to unforeseen circumstances, the Shakira and Jason Aldean and Brooks & Dunn performances originally scheduled for May 29th and May 30th have been canceled. Refunds will be available at your point of purchase. We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Fans were understandably upset about the last-minute cancellations. Many flew in from out of state to attend the Fenway Park concerts, and were frustrated that they paid for flights and hotels for nothing. Plus, people were upset over the initial lack of an explanation for why the shows were canceled.

Why Were The Concerts Canceled At Fenway Park?

In the hours after Fenway Park’s announcement, news outlets learned why the Shakira and Jason Aldean/Brooks & Dunn concerts were canceled. Live Nation, the entertainment company behind the events, told Boston 25 a “stage production issue” led to the cancellations:

”During a routine pre-show check, structural elements were identified as not being up to standard, so the shows were canceled. All team members are safe.”

Another Boston news station, 7 NEWS, reports that “sources” told them the cancellations were “due to a safety issue with the stage” and were “not linked to any security concern.

7 NEWS added, “The city’s inspectional services department needed to sign off on the structure and saw something that was a safety concern.”

Despite this, fans are still upset the shows were canceled so suddenly. Watch a news report about the cancellations below.
