Jelly Roll Continues To Set New Goals After Losing 200 Pounds

Jelly Roll is incredibly proud of his progress on his weight loss journey, but admits he initially struggled when he wasn’t losing weight as fast as he hoped.

A while back, Jelly Roll promised to start prioritizing his health. When he began his new diet and exercise regimen, he weighed 540 pounds.

The “Liar” singer set a significant goal for himself in those early days. He vowed to run a 5K race and accomplished that goal. By the time of that 5K in May 2024, he had already lost 70 pounds and weighed 470.

Over the past year, Jelly Roll has continued to update fans throughout his weight loss journey and shared the major milestones he’s reached along the way. During an April 2025 appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, he shared he’d come close to losing 200 pounds.

Jelly Roll told Jimmy he has “a number in mind” he’d like to reach. He also shared what he hopes to do once he reaches his goal weight.

“So, for the non-fluffy people in the world, I would give you all an educational course here. To do all the fun stuff in life, you got to be under 250. So my goal is to skydive, ride a roller coaster, ride a bull, wrestle an alligator, and more. I have a list of things that I want to do.”

In May, Jelly Roll returned to run the same 5K he ran last year. He happily shared that he’d officially lost 200 pounds overall and weighed 340 at this year’s 5K.

After the race, Jelly Roll made a bold promise for 2026. He said:

“I’m going to lose another 100 pounds. I’m going to do this in 40 or 35 minutes flat next year in May, baby…And for the first time in my career, at the end of the 5K, I’m going to stand on this stage and take off my f****** shirt next year.”

Jelly Roll Opens Up About His Initial Struggles In His Weight Loss Journey

Even more recently, Jelly Roll got honest about the highs and lows of his weight loss journey during a candid conversation on the Not A Damn Chance! Podcast.

The singer shared some advice based on what he’s gone through.

“…I encourage all really obese people to be patient that first month, your body is going through so many early changes. You’re not going to see the results you think you’re entitled to.”

That advice comes directly from Jelly Roll’s experiences, as he felt like he was wasting time when the weight didn’t fall off immediately:

“And the biggest thing that was hard for me in all my weight loss journeys was, if I spent one week like eating down to the tee, and that scale didn’t jump 13 pounds, I was like…give me a pizza right now…”

But Jelly Roll has since learned that weight loss isn’t instant and that it takes the body “quite a while” to adjust. Once his body got used to his new lifestyle, there was a “turning point” for him.

“Then I started seeing the scale go down every week and I was like, ‘ooh.'”

Hear everything Jelly Roll had to say in the clip below. We wish him the best of luck as he continues on this journey!
