The World Remembers Conservative Activist Charlie Kirk

Conservative influencer and Turning Point USA CEO Charlie Kirk was shot and killed on September 10 while speaking on a college campus in Orem, Utah.

Following his death, millions of people around the world are remembering the 31-year-old and his incredible legacy.

The Senate passed a resolution Thursday (September 18) declaring a “National Day of Remembrance for Charlie Kirk” to take place on his birthday, October 14.

“As we mourn this massive loss, let us gather together in our communities and pray for his family and our nation. And let us honor Charlie by believing in the power of our ideas to win the day and leave the nation a better place,” Florida Senator Rick Scott said of his late friend.

Jimmy Kimmel Suspended “Indefinitely” After His Remarks Surrounding Charlie Kirk

Late night talk show host and comedian Jimmy Kimmel’s show, Jimmy Kimmel Live, was suspended following remarks he made following Kirk’s passing.

Nexstar Media Group and Sinclair Broadcasting Group, which both operate large numbers of ABC affiliates, announced Wednesday (September 17) that it would preempt the show on its ABC channels effective immediately.

“Mr. Kimmel’s comments about the death of Mr. Kirk are offensive and insensitive at a critical time in our national political discourse, and we do not believe they reflect the spectrum of opinions, views, or values of the local communities in which we are located,” Nexstar’s broadcasting chief Andrew Alford said in a press release.

Other programming will air in place of Jimmy Kimmel Live “for the foreseeable future.”

ABC Affiliates Demand Kimmel Appologize

Sinclair Broadcast Group announced it would not allow Jimmy Kimmel Live to be aired on its stations again unless Kimmel apologizes to Kirk’s family and makes a “meaningful personal donation” to TPUSA.

“Mr. Kimmel’s remarks were inappropriate and deeply insensitive at a critical moment for our country,” Sinclair Vice Chairman Jason Smith said in a statement on September 18. “We believe broadcasters have a responsibility to educate and elevate respectful, constructive dialogue in our communities.”

Smith announced that a special tribute honoring Kirk’s life will air nationwide across all Sinclair affiliates during Jimmy Kimmel’s timeslot Friday (September 19).

“Sinclair also calls upon Mr Kimmel to issue a direct apology to the Kirk family. Furthermore, we ask Mr Kimmel to make a meaningful personal donation to the Kirk Family and Turning Point USA,” a statement from the company read.
