April 3rd should be a joyous day for Tara Diffie. It happens to be her birthday and this year, instead of celebrating getting another year older, she is in mourning.

Her husband, 90s country legend Joe Diffie, sadly passed away due to complications with COVID-19 on March 29. The family made a statement about his death on his official social media channels just two days after revealing he had tested positive for the virus and was receiving treatment.

Joe is survived by his wife Tara and five children, Parker, Kara, Drew, Tyler, and Kylie.

He and Tara were married on May 26, 2018 at the Musician’s Hall of Fame in Nashville, Tennessee. On Tuesday (March 31), Tara took to both her husband and her own Instagram pages to share a couple intimate moments from their wedding day, paying tribute to the man she said is “the love of her life.”

On her own page, she shared a photo from their first dance, which was to Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect” and quoted some of the lyrics.

On Friday morning (April 3), Tara posted on Joe’s Instagram about a surprise party he threw her for her birthday in 2019.

“One year ago today he threw me a surprise party, of course, he told me before it happened. That was so like him. Couldn’t keep a secret or a surprise from me. Wishing this guy was here today to celebrate with me. No birthday will ever be the same without you, love,” she wrote accompanying a sweet photo of Joe kissing her on the cheek.

This year, her birthday is much more somber without her husband. We wish Tara a happy birthday, and will continue to pray for her as she mourns the loss of Joe.
