Jon Pardi Reveals Why He Quit Drinking & How It Has Affected His Health
on Dec 15, 2023
Jon Pardi shares his decision to take a break from alcohol and how it has enhanced his physical well-being and boosted his self-confidence.
The Grand Ole Opry member recently visited Amazon’s Country Heat Weekly’s podcast with Kelly Sutton and Amber Anderson to chat about his new Christmas album Merry Christmas From Jon Pardi and shared the news that he had quit drinking.
“I’ve been 112 days sober. I’ve lost a bunch of weight.”
Why He Quit Drinking
Throughout the year, Pardi faced the need to reschedule several dates on his “Mr. Saturday Night Tour,” due to significant health issues. He had disclosed earlier that he was contending with a prostate infection and was also in a pre-diabetic state. Coupled with dissatisfaction with his physical appearance, these factors prompted the country star to temporarily abstain from alcohol.

“I was pre-diabetic, and I was like, ‘I’ve gotta stop.’”
While he can’t say this decision will last forever, Pardi referred to himself as “retired” from drinking.
“That doesn’t mean I can’t come out of retirement, but for right now, it’s been great,” he said. “It [the weight] just fell off my face. I was really getting to the point where every picture, every video, I was so unhappy with myself. I needed to take a break.”
“I just did a photo shoot and I was like damn I look good,” the “Head Over Boots” singer continued. “Take that, Titos,” he jokingly added. “So for anybody that’s thinking about it, if they want to lose weight and you do drink, let me tell you, it does help tremendously.”
