When Lee Ann Womack first sang her hit single “I Hope You Dance” – she had no idea how timeless the song would become. Since its release, hundreds of artists have covered the song but we bet you’ve never seen anything like this before.
Womack’s version was a hit in the early 2000s and even to this day, you still hear it at high school graduations and weddings alike. Womack attributes the song’s success to how people can relate to the song.
She told Billboard, “When a song really connects with so many people, it’s because they felt something when they heard it. This song makes you think about and feel for the people you really love in your life. Who doesn’t have someone like that in their life?”
Womack was right, the song definitely reminds us of the people we want to see succeed in this world. With lyrics like “Promise me that you’ll give faith a fighting chance/ And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance/ I hope you dance” it is hard not to think of the children in our lives that we want to give the entire world to.
Now, 1almost 20 years after its release, the song is still being covered for its ability to relate to anyone who hears it.
Country singer Karen Waldrup is one of the many artists who has covered the timeless tune. Her twangy sound and ability to cover some of the greatest classic songs makes her irresistible to listen to.
