Sock It To The Haters

Waldrup’s fiery cover of “Harper Valley PTA” starts off with the singer rocking a velvet red top with lips to match. She starts by dedicating the “story song” to people who have experienced judgment and hate from others. Her advice? “Tell ’em to go jump in a lake.”

It isn’t long into the tune before the singer’s golden vocals and attitude will have you hooked.

The song tells the story of the unfortunate cattiness that comes along with PTA moms; with no exemption from Harper Valley Junior High. One particular afternoon, a note was sent home with widowed Mrs. Johnson’s daughter. The note being from non-other than the Harper Valley PTA.

Later that afternoon, the PTA got the response they never saw coming. Ready for war, Mrs. Johnson waltzed past the committee with her mini skirt on and ready “to address this meeting of the PTA.” With no hesitation, Mrs. Johnson begins revealing the secrets that her community was trying to keep hidden. From scandalous affairs to abusive alcoholics, the PTA gets a quick teaspoon of their own medicine.
