Katy Perry is no stranger to country music awards shows and productions. In 2014, she paired with Kacey Musgraves for an episode of CMT Crossroads. Then in 2016, she joined Dolly Parton for a medley performance during the ACM Awards.

In 2021, Perry stopped by the CMA Awards as a surprise guest during host Luke Bryan‘s opening monologue. Perry, Bryan, and Lionel Richie all serve as judges on American Idol, which airs on ABC like the CMA Awards.

Ahead of the CMA’s 2022 awards ceremony, it was announced that Perry would be joining Thomas Rhett to perform their new duet, “Where We Started.”

“Where We Started” is featured as the 15th and final track on Rhett’s album of the same name. Rhett and Perry just released the official music video for “Where We Started” three weeks before the CMA Awards.

Fans previously got the chance to see Rhett and Perry sing “Where We Started” live on American Idol. After that popular performance, people were looking forward to their collaboration during the CMA Awards.

Rhett started off singing alone, before Perry made her entrance. Perry fully embraced the “country” personality by wearing a denim ensemble and a cowboy hat.

The pair delivered a tender performance of their duet…one that CMA viewers are sure to be left talking about for some time.

Look below to watch the video of Rhett and Perry singing together during the 2022 CMA Awards. We love seeing collaborations like this during awards ceremonies!
