Nicole Kidman Filed For Divorce From Keith Urban On September 30
One day after news broke that Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman had separated after 19 years of marriage, the Oscar-winning actress filed divorce papers.
Citing irreconcilable differences, she filed the papers in the Davidson County Circuit Court in Tennessee, where the couple resided with their daughters Sunday, 17, and Faith, 14.

The Tennessean reports that the couple “had all details of their divorce agreed upon and signed before the case was filed,” and that Urban signed on August 29, while Kidman signed the agreement on September 6.
Per their “marriage dissolution agreement,” which included a parenting plan, neither will pay alimony. Their daughters will spend 206 days of the year with their mother, and 59 with their father.
Although Kidman will have primary physical custody, they have joint legal custody and agree to make all decisions regarding their daughters together. But, if they can’t come to an agreement, the document states that Kidman has final say.
The Split Came As A Shock To Fans
Fans were shocked by the announcement of their separation on September 29, and their divorce filings the following day, seeing as they always supported each other at awards shows, on social media, and gushed about each other in seemingly every interview they’ve ever given.
Kidman’s last Instagram post of the singer was to wish him a Happy Anniversary on June 25th.

Urban did not post on their anniversary. His last post with Kidman was following the 2025 ACM Awards, which now serves at the former couple’s last red carpet appearance.

The shock of the divorce left fans devastated, as Keith and Nicole were always “couple goals.”
“Omg devastating. I just saw him in concert last week in Chicago,” one fan wrote on Instagram.
Another wrote, “WHY IS THIS HAPPENING,” while a user commented, “I hate it here.”
One of the fans mentioned they saw him the other night, because he’s on his High & Alive World Tour. And he is making waves for a subtle lyric change he made just days before his divorce news was announced. “The Fighter” was famously written about Nicole.
While performing “The Fighter” with his guitar player Maggie Baugh singing Carrie Underwood’s parts, Urban changed the lyrics from, “When they’re tryna get to you, baby, I’ll be the fighter,” to “When they’re tryna get to you, Maggie, I’ll be your guitar player.“
