Kelly Clarkson Shares New Details About Her Post-Divorce Album

Kelly Clarkson is gearing up to release a new album later this year. This upcoming album will be her first non-holiday studio album she’s released since she filed for divorce from Brandon Blackstock in June 2020.

Fans have been anxious to hear the songs on Clarkson’s post-divorce album. She recently shared some new details about the project during an Instagram Live Q&A in connection with her talk show, The Kelly Clarkson Show.

First, Clarkson confirmed the album will drop this year. She then explained why she waited so long to release the project.

“Look, I’m gonna be really honest with you…it took a minute for me to be able to release this album,” she said. “‘Cause I just had to be over it, through it, all around it, I had to get past it to be able to talk about it.”

She explained further, saying, “Because I know people wanna ask me about the album, and songs, and I just feel like I was not, I needed a minute.”

Clarkson said she was glad they took their time with the album, since one of the last songs written for it may end up being one of the singles. She also described the album as being “a great arc of a whole relationship.”

Not all of the songs on Clarkson’s new album will be “sad or mad.” But she guaranteed “that’s in there.

Clarkson also shared that she’s already done the photo shoot for the album. Clarkson doesn’t usually like photo shoots, but she said, “This was the most fun [she’s] ever had on set.” She described the photo shoot as being “so perfectly [her].
