November 16th, 2021 was the 17-year anniversary of when Kelly Clarkson released her single “Since U Been Gone.” It was a global hit, and quickly became known as one of Clarkson’s signature songs.
In 2014, The Atlantic published an article declaring “Since U Been Gone” as “the best pop song” released in the past decade. The song also ranks at the 18th spot on Rolling Stone‘s 100 Best Songs of the 2000s list.
The song’s official music video was posted to YouTube in 2010. Since then, the video has generated well over 100 million views.
Clarkson was filming a live episode of The Voice the day before the 17th anniversary of when “Since U Been Gone” was released. The entire audience celebrated by singing the song for Clarkson at the top of their lungs.
The show wasn’t live at the time, but cameras did happen to capture the moment. A video Clarkson shared on social media shows the singalong.
Clarkson joined in the performance for a bit before she stopped to stare at the crowd in awe. She was stunned to hear that many people singing her 17-year-old song to her…and they knew every word by heart!
Then, Clarkson’s fellow Voice coaches appeared. Both Ariana Grande and John Legend came on stage singing “Since U Been Gone,” which Clarkson loved to see.
