Ace Frehley Passed Away On October 16, 2025
Almost one month after Ace Frehley passed away, his cause of death has been released.
KISS co-founder and guitarist Ace Frehley died on October 16, 2025, at the age of 74. His family confirmed the news of his passing in a statement they shared with PEOPLE, which read:
“In his last moments, we were fortunate enough to have been able to surround him with loving, caring, peaceful words, thoughts, prayers and intentions as he left this earth. We cherish all of his finest memories, his laughter, and celebrate his strengths and kindness that he bestowed upon others. The magnitude of his passing is of epic proportions, and beyond comprehension. Reflecting on all of his incredible life achievements, Ace’s memory will continue to live on forever!“
Frehley’s former bandmates, Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, and Peter Criss, paid tribute to him after news of his death broke. KISS’ official Facebook page also shared a post memorializing Frehley.
The post read:
“We are devastated by the passing of Ace Frehley. He was an essential and irreplaceable rock soldier during some of the most formative foundational chapters of the band and its history. He is and will always be a part of KISS’s legacy.”
Medical Examiner’s Report Confirms Ace Frehley’s Cause Of Death
A few weeks before Frehley died, the Rock & Roll Hall of Famer suffered a fall in his studio. Frehley’s team shared a statement about the incident in late September, describing it as “minor” and saying he was “fine.”
“Ace looks forward to continuing on his tour and finishing work on his next album…” the post read.
Frehley canceled the remainder of his 2025 tour dates on October 6 “due to some ongoing medical issues.” He passed away 10 days later.
Now, Frehley’s cause of death has been confirmed in a report from the Morris County Medical Examiner. PEOPLE obtained a copy of the report, which lists Frehley’s cause of death as “blunt trauma injuries to his head due to a fall.”
The report indicates that Frehley’s manner of death was determined to be an accident.
Frehley’s friends and family gathered to honor him at an intimate memorial service the week after he passed away. His former KISS bandmates, Simmons, Stanley, and Criss, all attended the service.
Our hearts and prayers go out to Frehley’s loved ones during this difficult time. May he rest in peace…
