Lainey Wilson Releases Her First New Single In Ten Months
Fans have been eagerly awaiting new music from Lainey Wilson in the months that have passed since her last single, “Somewhere Over Laredo,” dropped in May 2025. On Friday, March 13th, she delivered.
The 33-year-old began teasing her new song, “Can’t Sit Still,” in January, but a release date was just announced earlier this week. In a press release, Lainey shared that the song was inspired by the fast pace of her life over the last two years. She wrote:
“I’m always on the go — moving from city to city, celebrating exciting milestones, and getting the chance to hug y’all’s necks along the way.”
Lainey Wilson Looks Ahead, Reflects On The End Of An Era
Lainey Wilson’s fifth studio album, Whirlwind, was released in August 2024. A deluxe version of the album was released almost exactly one year later, featuring five new songs. It contained hit songs “Hang Tight Honey,” “4x4xU,” and the aforementioned “Somewhere Over Laredo.”
In the past two years, the Louisiana native has become one of the most decorated female artists in modern country music, with back-to-back CMA Entertainer of the Year wins and a massive world tour.

As she prepares to step into a new chapter of music, she is reflecting on how far she has come. For Lainey, this “whirlwind” of a season was a time to learn who she was and how to stay grounded amid her rapid success. She explained:
“At times, that whirlwind felt like a lot. But over time, I realized there’s something about the madness that fuels me. The busy lifestyle inspires me. It pushes me, keeps me creating, and reminds me who I am.”
“Can’t Sit Still” was released to all platforms on March 13th. Lainey expressed that she can’t wait to share this new song (and hopefully more on the way) with fans. She added:
“Whether you’re a 10-year-old in a classroom being told to stop doodling and pay attention, a female CEO building her fifth company, a high school athlete trying every sport, or anywhere in between — know that I see you. Sometimes it’s the nonstop that keeps us going, and there ain’t nothing wrong with that.”
