Season Two Of Landman Is Off To An Exiting Start
Let’s just dive right in!
The second episode of Season Two of Landman opened with Cooper overseeing the drilling in the well he owns with Ariana. All of a sudden, oil erupted, showing just what the potential is for the area they blindly chose to dig in.
When Cooper arrived back at Ariana’s that evening, she was already frantically calling him. She asked him to answer his phone if he is at work because the last time she dated an oil digger, he died, so she knows the worst case scenario for this line of work.
As Cooper is getting himself cleaned up in the backyard, Ariana tearfully ends things with him, realizing that she wants to raise her child in the same house she bought with her late husband, which is near their families. With the newfound success of the oil digging,Cooper previously told her they can buy a bigger house wherever they want, which seems to scare Ariana.

Despite ending things with him, Cooper sleeps on the couch, but by morning, Ariana tells him to leave and to use all his newfound fortune to buy himself his own house because she doesn’t think he should stay with her anymore.
Tommy’s Relationship With His Parents Revealed
As Tommy is on his way to handle his late mother’s affairs, Cooper calls him needing advice.
“Woman advice or business advice?” Tommy asks his son.
“Both,” Cooper replied, to which Tommy said they were in the same boat.
“Your girl problem is a lot easier than your business problem. All you gotta do is ask and listen and remember what she said, and then make it come true,” Tommy said.
He reminded Cooper that her life was just in shambles and she is allowed to put herself back together anyway she wants, and Cooper doesn’t have a say in that.
The company agrees to drop the lawsuit if MTex actually does start drilling and give them weekly progress reports.
They arrive at a funeral home to pick out a casket for Tommy’s mother. The funeral home director asked about how many flowers they would want, to which Tommy replied, “Enough to say I tried, but not enough to say I miss her.”
Then, Tommy and Cooper go visit Tommy’s dad, TL (played by Sam Elliott), who is in the back watching the sunset once again.
TL compares his wife to a sunset, which might be the reason why he loves them so much. We find out that Tommy’s mom had a disease, addiction, that took the best parts of her away and left her with the side that Tommy dislikes so much.

After seeing his dad for the first time in a long time, Tommy tells Cooper it was probably best they only saw each othe ron the weekends because Tommy believes he wasn’t raised to raise a son. Tommy reveals his father got “crippled” from working on the oil rigs and came home to drink and deal with his “coked out” mother and then “come in my room and try to beat his failures out on me.”
But Cooper reassures him, “I love you, Dad. You did your best and your best was good enough for me.”
Tommy became emotional, tearing up one the drive.
Cooper’s Problems Are Not Just Romantic
Tommy and Cooper finally meet up and Cooper takes his dad to his land where they drilled six times and struck six times. The foreman told Tommy they could yield 3,500 barrels a day and up to 7,000 barrels a day.
“See my problem?” Cooper asks.
Tommy tells him, “You’re $8 million a well to drill here. Who paid for this?”
“There’s a company in Odessa that finances spec wells 50/50 to recoup and 18% after that,” before revealing that company actually financed the entire thing.
The company is called Sonrisa, which Tommy had never heard of.
“I sure as f*** never heard of Esteban Galvez,” he said while reading a business card.
Tommy, frustrated with his son, has Cooper drive to his late mother’s town to pick out a casket while he can read the contract Cooper signed with Sonrisa.
Tommy’s other lawyer, Nate, found out information on Sonrisa, and it’s not looking good. Tommy showed Cooper a photo of Sonrisa’s managing partner, to which Tommy said, “That is your new partner, and it’s a real f***ing problem.”
It seems he and Tommy knows him and we will meet in Episode 3.

Monty’s Financial Trouble Is Being Exposed In This Episode Of Landman
Cami Miller (Demi Moore) was out for a job when a man showed up to serve her with a lawsuit. After her security took him to he ground, they got to the bottom of the reason for being served.
MTex Oil lawyers met with Cami to go over the lawsuit, where they explained that there was a gas well on the coast of Louisiana that “blew out.” The company received a $420 million settlement from the insurance company, but that monEy was to only be used for drilling another well.
The lawyers explained that sometimes insurance companies will pay as you go re-drilling, but in this instance, they paid the entire sum up front.
Long story short, nobody knows where the money is and they have to find it and use it to drill a well in the ocean, and soon! Tommy continued to talk to the lawyers and they all had the same idea: the money was probably already used, but not on what it was supposed to be used on.
At Monty’s office, Cami is going through everything trying to also figure out where the $420 million went.
One of the MTex’s lawyers, Rebecca, went to see the insurance company who is suing MTex Oil, where she learns that the $420 million insurance payout was given to Monty himself, violating the terms of the contract, which she is trying to void.
This seems like it is only the beginning of the trail of trouble that Monty left behind for Cami and Tommy to clean up.
Tune in Sunday, November 30th for the next episode of Landman!
