Episode Six, titled “Dark Night of the Soul” begins with the radio letting the audience know that the Permian Basin International Oil Show has come to town.
At the Oil Show, Dale (James Jordan) learns about a new oil rig system where less laborers are needed. He’s told a four-man team turns into one, which will have costs lower because insurance will go down, less housing will be needed to be provided, and less oney towards salary.
The other oil workers that were involved in the H2S leak incident, Boss, BR, and King, also attended the show, where they see the machine in action. “What the heck is that?” King asks.
“That’s the future, without us,” responded Boss.

Tommy’s Day In Forth Worth Takes A Turn
Tommy and TL meet each other in the backyard, where TL offers to join his son on his trek to Fort Worth for the day. Reluctantly, Tommy accepts.

In Fort Worth, Tommy meets up with Cami Miller (Demi Moore) and Dan Morello (Andy Garcia) at a horse show, where Tommy once again accuses Dan of laundering money.
TL is sitting on the other side of the arena, where a janitor stops him and reminds him of his name, Nash, and that he was a roughneck, or oil rig worker, for him many years before. They catch up, but TL says they never spoke this much even when they worked together, which made the former rougnneck call him a “dick.”
Tommy and Morello negotiate a deal, and Cami’s desperation for a loan has Tommy make one he doesn’t like. Morello insists that he’s a good businessman and wants Tommy to trust him. They shake on the monumental deal, agreeing that M-Tex’s lawyers will draft up the paperwork.

During the handshake, TL punches the roughneck and has Tommy rush over there to handle the situation. Tommy and Nash’s conversation must have gotten much worse because Tommy literally had to pull TL away from him.
TL reveals that Nash said something about his late wife.
“Did he call her a whore, or an addict or a thief or something? Cause it’s true” Tommy said with conviction.

TL looked at his son with tears in his eyes, and explained that they lost a child, a daughter, which is what sent Tommy’s mom on the downward spiral of addiction.
“I’m glad you don’t understand,” TL says. “I barely understand it. And I lost a child, too. And she didn’t grow inside me. my body didn’t nourish her. It shattered me, but it didn’t scramble my soul. It scrambled her soul, son. And you never got to meet the most joyous, loving creature that I’ve ever seen on this…planet. You could say I wasted my life and ruined yours, and maybe I did, but for the hope that maybe she was in there, son.”
Tommy looked as his dad and said, “Well, Pop, I don’t think hers is the only soul that got scrambled.”

After Ainsley and Angela’s shopping spree, they head to meet up with Tommy and TL at the members only club, where TL tells Tommy to prioritize making Angela his wife again. With a tear in his eye once again, TL says from experience, “Livin’ off memories is not livin’ at all. You gotta make ’em.”
They meet up with Ainsley and Angela at a bar with Cami, Dan, and his wife. Angela shares a sweet moment with TL, where they start dancing. Then they bring all the other ladies.

While left alone at the bar, Dan and Tommy talk about the bloody night where they first met in Season One. Dan asks why Cami doesn’t trust Tommy.
“Me and her husband started out together. So at one point I had a version of what she has. But I didn’t hedge it. But the crash in ’08 pretty much cleaned me out, so I went to go work for her husband. She don’t trust me ’cause she thinks I’m a loser, and she thinks I’m gonna lose her fortune.”
In a way of looking out for Tommy, Morello says, “Well you’re gonna have to do something about that, because when those sharks smell her doubt in you, they’re gonna poison her with reason to get rid of you.”

Offshore Drilling
Rebecca and Nate are ironing out some details about the upcoming offshore drilling M-Tex has to start in less than 45 days. Nate tries to get her up to speed with all the numbers and logistics, but she wants to meet with a geologist, who can really explain their situation to her.
They set a meeting with him that same day.
Rebacca shows up onsite to meet with the geologist and it turns out to be Charlie, the man Rebecca had a romantic fling with after the terrifying plane ride in Episode Four.

Charlie and Rebecca discuss the offshore job, and Rebecca asks him to lead the charge. Charlie’s response was to kiss her. They agree to go on a date even though Rebecca says it is against company policy. Their chemistry is off the charts, so we’re excited to see where this relationship, both in business and personal, will take them.

Ariana and Cooper
We see Ariana at her mother-in-law’s house with her son, Miguel, where they talk about her job, where the insurance money she received for her husband’s death, and her relationship
Ariana tells her that she is in love with Cooper, and wants to start a new life with him, but would never think of replacing her late husband. Her mother-in-law tells Ariana to have Cooper look her in the eyes so she can make sure he loves her.
Cooper calls his dad to ask for money to buy an engagement ring, but Tommy says that’s Angela’s forte. Angela ends up offering Cooper her own engagement ring in a way to get herself a brand new one.
When Cooper returns to Ariana’s house, she is on her way to work, but asks him to take Miguel across the street to his abuelita’s house. There, she asks him why he thinks he’s ready to marry Ariana, and although he feels like he is blabbering, he says all the right things.
She approves of their relationship and offers to feed him and teach him how to grill.
Episode 7 looks like there’s lots of twists and turns ahead. Watch the trailer below and tune in Sunday (Dec. 28) on Paramount+ to watch!
