“Forever Is An Instant” Is The Title Of Landman‘s Episode 7

It’s hard to believe that the second season of Landman is already nearing the end. Only three episodes remain in this season.

This article contains spoilers for Episode 7, titled “Forever Is An Instant”, so if you haven’t watched this episode of Landman yet, this is your warning!

Due to the many relationships that were tested in this episode, we will break the episode down by character.

Tommy & Angela

The episode begins with Tommy and Angela in a hotel room, where Angela is trying to surprise him with breakfast in bed, however, Tommy is unaware that a hotel employee is in the room and when he woke up, his nether regions are showing and she screams.

Of course, this turns into a screaming match between the two “lovebirds” because of an extra little blue pill that Angela had Tommy take the night before.

After their night in Fort Worth, Tommy drops Angela and Ainsley off at the private plane, where Angela still shows her anger towards Tommy by flipping him off before getting on the plane.

At home, Angela made a theme-less taco night dinner, but serves up Tommy an omelette, which is a callback to the beginning of the episode.

He takes Angela outside and tells her how blessed he feels to have her back in his life. They make up as Tommy promises to love her, and worship her, and get her a house in Fort Worth.

Ainsley admires their relationship and clearly wants what they have one day, wondering what the secret is. She believes it is never growing up since Nate point out the two of them don’t act like adult together.

Rebecca & Charlie

Rebecca wakes up in Charlie’s bed… once again, but this time she remembered she went there in the first place. And this time they were in a trailer on the dig site. Charlie marvels about the beauty of the Earth and the millions of years and different events that took place for them to be sitting where they are sitting, which was once the ocean floor.

After some flattery, the conversation goes back to business about the offshore drilling that M-Tex needs to start in the next 40 or so days. Charlie believes there is a 10% chance that they will be successful in this job, which worries Rebecca, seeing as $400 million is on the line.

“Diamonds aren’t expensive because they’re rare. They’re expensive because they’re hard to find. It’s the same with our business,” he says.

He also explains what “wildcatting” is, basically drilling blind with hope, and explains the risks in doing so.

After this, Rebecca shows up at the Norris house, where the other lawyer, Nate, is residing and working. She informs him about what she learned from Charlie, and Nate realizes that Monty knew that the well had stopped producing and would have a better chance in court fighting the $400 million lawsuit than actually drilling more.

They start coming up with a plan to fight the lawsuit in court, but first they have to get Tommy and Cami on board. And Nate adds, “And she will be harder to convince than the jury.”

Nate figures out very quickly that Rebecca and Charlie have a romantic relationship merely due to the fact that she calls him Charlie and he actually goes by Charles professionally. Nate makes her sign a conflict of interest form and has to report her relationship with Charlie to the board of M-Tex.

When Tommy returns from Fort Worth, Rebecca is waiting for him to tell him about her romantic relationship, hoping to save her job due to all the good work she has done. Tommy basically says he doesn’t care because she is good at her job, but if she starts being bad at her job, he will have to do something about it. She is such a stickler to the rules that she doesn’t realizes that some rules are okay to bend.

Tommy confronts Nate about having her sign the form, saying that they shouldn’t want to piss Rebecca off and have her come after them for any reason, so he needs to let it go.

Roughneckers

At housing for the roughneckers, they are hosting somewhat of a car show, but our main roughneckers, Ben and King, don’t want anything to do with it. In fact, they try to get out of the area before they get stuck behind 50 of the low riders driving slowly out of town. They head to a party at Boss’s house in honor of his 20th anniversary with the company. Dale shows up and gifts him with a Rolex.

Boss reflects on all the near-death experiences and close calls this job has given him. He even said he is shocked he made it out alive. But, he has reaped the benefits of the good pay, allowing his wife to be a stay-at-home mom, putting a daughter through college with no debt, and feeding his 401K “like a hunting dog” so he can retire soon.

“Take what you can from this place, then get out. Get the fuck out,” Dale said.

Boss reveals he is retiring after the summer and moving to Houston.

TL & Tommy

TL and Tommy get into it on the drive, as per usual, and when they pull over so TL can relieve himself, he accidentally chooses a spot where a snake is sitting.

“Put me out of my misery,” he dares the snake as he pees right on him.

They decide to stop at a local diner for lunch, where TL in enjoying every bite and Tommy, who is already finished with his plate, is asking his dad to hurry it up.

TL says, “What’s your hurry, son? All your problems you’re racing home to fix is problems when you get there. And once you solve ’em, there’s a whole new set right behind ’em. You gotta enjoy the moments between the problems. Otherwise, all you’ll have is problems.”

Tommy calls him out for this way of thinking since he definitely did not live his life that way. TL says he is the blueprint for doing everything wrong, and he is just trying to enjoy the time he has left on this Earth.

His time with his dad seems to have done some good for him, because when he arrives home, he says, “Starting today, I’m going to enjoy my life.”

Ariana & Cooper

Ariana and Cooper wake up, and Cooped reveals he has been practicing Spanish to understand her “talking shit” about him. She asks how it went with her mother-in-law, and he revealed it went extremely well, and she taught him how to make salsa roja and salsa verde. Read our Episode 6 recap to see how it went.

She tells him that she doesn’t want to wait forever for him to propose so he should hurry up, but he wants everything to be special.

Later in the episode, Cooper arrives at the airport to pick up his mom and sister, who still looks at him in disgust. Angela gives him her engagement ring, which she just thad polished, to give to Ariana.
