“Lethal Weapon” Star Danny Glover Reveals Alzheimer’s Diagnosis

Actor and producer Danny Glover revealed that he has been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s.
Glover became a household name playing Detective Roger Murtaugh in the popular Lethal Weapon film alongside Mel Gibson. The 79-year-old has also appeared in many other award winning films including The Color Purple, Predator 2, Dreamgirls, and Sorry to Bother You.
Outside of acting, Glover has been involved in activism and humanitarian efforts. The actor has been vocal about his partnership with the United Nations Development Programme as a goodwill ambassador.
Glover Opens Up About His Diagnosis
Speaking with the TODAY show, Glover shared he has been diagnosed with the life-altering disease.
“I’ve been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s,” Glover told former NBC Nightly News anchor Lester Holt. “I can live with it, in a sense.”
Glover is among the more than 7 million Americans age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s disease, a progressive and fatal neurodegenerative condition that gradually affects memory and daily functioning.
“I’m sure as it advances, things are going to be different and changing,” the actor shared of the diagnosis.
According to the Alzheimer’s association, an individual with Alzheimer’s “lives four to eight years after diagnosis but can live as long as 20 years, depending on other factors.”
