Every fan-favorite character from Little House on the Prairie is set to return in the reboot, including the one viewers loved to hate most.

On Wednesday, May 27, Deadline confirmed that actress Willa Dunn is the latest addition to the cast and will be taking on the role of Laura Ingalls’ famously bratty arch nemesis, Nellie Oleson.

Viewers may recognize Willa from shows like Only Murders in the Building and The Runarounds.

If you watched the original series, which aired from 1974 to 1983, then you probably remember the rivalry between Nellie and Laura very well.

Their ongoing fights became one of the show’s most iconic storylines and helped make Nellie a regular character throughout the first seven seasons.

Netflix also released the character’s official description ahead of the show’s debut, and it’ll likely bring back memories for fans who spent years watching Laura go head-to-head with the richest girl in town.

“On the surface, Nellie is a world-class spoiled princess and playground bully,” the description reads. “Smart and supremely confident, sharp-tongued but easily wounded, Nellie is full of contradictions. One thing is certain: She lives and breathes to make Laura miserable. Yet beneath her mean-girl persona lies a tenderness and yearning for true friendship — even if she doesn’t know exactly how to get it.”

Dunn will star alongside the show’s already confirmed cast members: Alice Halsey (Laura Ingalls), Luke Bracey ( Charles “Pa” Ingalls), Crosby Fitzgerald (Caroline “Ma” Ingalls), and Skywalker Hughes (Mary Ingalls).

The Little House On The Prairie Reboot Has Already Been Renewed For Season 2

Unfortunately, it will still be a while before fans see Nellie appear on the show.

Dunn won’t be stepping into the role until the series’ second season, and an official premiere date hasn’t been announced yet.

Back in March, Netflix revealed that the Little House on the Prairie reboot had already been renewed for a second season before the first season has even premiered.

The show is set to debut on July 9, 2026.

The first season of the reboot will include eight episodes and is described as “part hopeful family drama, part epic survival tale,” according to the official logline.

The reimagined take on the classic story will follow the Ingalls family as they leave Wisconsin and begin a new life on a farm in Walnut Grove, Minnesota.
