Luke Combs Cancels Super Bowl Weekend Appearance… For A Good Reason

Country music superstar Luke Combs was slated to headline the EA Sports Madden Bowl on Friday, February 6th, but was forced to back out at the last minute. The “Beautiful Crazy” singer made the difficult decision to cancel his performance to stay close to his wife, Nicole, who is due to give birth to their third child at any time.

Luke and Nicole announced their pregnancy in September. They revealed the exciting news with a sweet video featuring their two sons, Tex and Beau. In it, they display the new baby’s sonogram photos to the soon-to-be older brothers.

Luke shared a brief statement via social media on the morning of February 5th, addressing his absence. It read:

“So sorry to miss y’all at Madden Bowl, but family always comes first. Have a great time.”

The Madden Bowl is an annual competition centered on the Madden NFL video game series. Players from around the world compete all year to earn one of 14 coveted spots in the high-stakes, live finals. The champion walks away with a hefty cash prize, usually around $1 million.

Traditionally, the Madden Bowl is planned in conjunction with the Super Bowl, capitalizing on the increased attention from football fans during that week.

Zach Bryan To Replace Luke Combs At The Madden Bowl

EA Sports shared an updated graphic revealing that Zach Bryan has replaced Luke Combs in the lineup for the Madden Bowl. They sent their well wishes to Luke and wrote:

“All love for Luke and his family — and we can’t wait to put on an unforgettable Madden Bowl with Zach Bryan leading an incredible night of music and football for the fans.”

Artists Teddy Swims, Stephen Wilson Jr., Gavin Adcock, and LaRussell are also scheduled to perform at the event, which will occur at San Francisco’s Chase Center. The performances, as well as the competition, will be live-streamed from EA Sports’ official Twitch and YouTube channels.
