Man Receives VIP Treatment After Hotel Staff Mistakes Him For Darius Rucker

It’s pretty common to see celebrities get special treatment whenever they go out somewhere. But sometimes, all it takes is having a similar name to a famous person to get the VIP treatment yourself.
ESPN college football analyst Darius Walker found that out firsthand after a hotel accidentally mistook him for country star Darius Rucker.
Apparently, while Walker was checking in, the staff heard his name and thought he was the Hootie & the Blowfish frontman. So, they upgraded his stay and gave him an even nicer room than the one he originally booked.
That’s honestly a pretty great mix-up to be a part of, and Walker didn’t seem to mind one bit.
He shared the funny experience with his followers on Instagram. In the post, Walker is sitting in his car dancing along to Hootie & the Blowfish’s hit song “Only Wanna Be With You.” Text over the clip reads:
“When the hotel accidentally upgrades you because they think you said Darius Rucker.”
Darius Rucker Responds To The Mix Up
It didn’t take long for Walker’s post to start circulating online. Darius Rucker fans found the situation hilarious, and many of them began commenting and sharing the post.
Before long, the clip even made its way to Rucker himself.
“You’re welcome!! Hahhahahahhaha,” Rucker wrote in the comments.
Shocked that the Grammy-winning artist actually saw his video, Walker replied, “The other Darius has entered the chat. I was not prepared for this. Welcome brother. I appreciate you!!”

Walker was having so much fun with his viral moment that he couldn’t resist keeping the joke going by posting a few more videos about Rucker.
After his original post, Walker shared another video teasing that he was launching an “investigation” into the “other Darius.”
In another follow-up video, he admitted that all the attention has inspired him to start listening to Rucker’s music for the first time, and now he’s officially a fan!
Maybe Walker will even get the chance to meet Rucker in person and laugh about the whole mix-up together. He could have the perfect opportunity too, since Rucker is currently out on his Songs of Summer Tour.
The singer has been traveling across the country since early June, and his final stop is scheduled for August 1 in Indianapolis.
