Sometimes the greatest blessings are found in the most unlikely of places. Just ask Michael Ray and Carly Pearce. The newlyweds recently had the opportunity to share a meal with an 89-year-old Army veteran who “put so much in perspective” for the pair.

According to social media posts from Carly and Michael, the two had just returned to Nashville and decided to stop by Cracker Barrel for Thanksgiving dinner. When they entered the restaurant they noticed the gentleman sitting alone and invited him to join them for the meal.

For the next four hours, Carly and Michael let the man named Bill share his story, including his time in the Army, his late wife and their family, his love of books and classical music. They visited until they were the last guests left in the restaurant.

“Bill eats slow, drinks his coffee black and loves ham a lot more than turkey, puts a cup holder over his coffee to keep it hot for longer and doesn’t like that AT&T keeps getting more and more expensive,” Ray captioned a photo on Instagram. “He knows a little about a lot of things but I don’t think he knows how much this meant to CP and I. We cherished every sec and let him just talk. He put so much in perspective for us both.”

Michael also shared that he, Carly and Bill have plans to dine together again in January.

Carly shared the same photos with a similar caption, but shared her thankfulness, saying, “Thank you God for all the blessings and for my sweet husband who loves these moments as much as I do. My heart is so full.”

Carly Pearce and Michael Ray wed in a magical ceremony in Nashville on October 6, 2019. The couple are planning to travel to Sandals Resort in Jamaica this month for their honeymoon, per Pearce’s request. Her dream vacation has always been to stay in an over-water bungalow, and Ray will oblige they wrap their current tours in mid-December.
