Each year, the Super Bowl brings together footballs fans unlike few other sporting events in the world. In addition to the big game itself, the halftime show and the performance of “The Star-Spangled Banner” are highly anticipated. This year, country songstress Mickey Guyton had the honors of singing the National Anthem prior to kickoff and her performance did not disappoint.

The 38-year-old singer stood center stage donning a custom royal blue dress by Sergio Hudson. As she began to sing the gospel-inspired rendition of the song, a choir of 10 singers clad in white joined her.  The pride and patriotism Guyton felt as she sang was evident in her powerful vocals.

Praise for Mickey Guyton’s performance was quick to spread on social media with many saying it was the best rendition they had heard in years.

Guyton, a four-time Grammy nominee, has been giving her fans a behind-the-scenes look at the preparation for her Big Game performance, including photos and videos of rehearsals with the choir, her first time on the game field and the moment that had her “freaking out.”
